Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation

Abstract
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a common and often catastrophic thrombohemorrhagic syndrome seen in almost all medical specialties. This review highlights the salient features of the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, and management of this common disorder. A firm understanding of the features of DIC will lead to both enhanced awareness of this syndrome and improved patient care.
