Abstract
This paper presents a novel dual‐band Inverted‐F Antenna (IFA) printed on a PCMCIA card. The antenna is based on the classic λ/4 printed IFA, which incorporates two individual monopoles separated by an L‐shaped slot that is properly optimized to achieve dual‐mode operation at 2.45 and 5.25 GHz. The antenna is aimed to support multiple wireless protocols, such as 802.11b and 802.11a. A prototype has been successfully developed and measured, while simulated and experimental results prove the favorable dual‐band characteristics of the printed antenna. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
