Abstract
Intramusc. DCA or sesame oil was admd. to hemithyroidectomized and sham operated rats for 30 days, and the distr. of radioiodine in terms of the I131 concn. ratios detd. for the thyroid, pituitary, adrenals and blood. The radioiodine trichloracetic acid soluble and insoluble fractions of these tissues were detd. While most tissues showed increased I131 concn. ratios following DCA injns., the pituitary I131 concn. ratios were decreased with DCA, the erythrocytes of the DCA treated animals had an increased per cent of blood radioiodine, and the radioiodine of the pituitary and adrenals of DCA treated hemithyroidectomized animals was largely found in the acid insoluble fraction. Thus, DCA increased retention of I131.Keywords
