Post-operative Vomiting: Effect of Nicotinic Acid

Abstract
No statistically significant effect on the incidence of vomiting was observed by administering nicotinic acid postoperatively in 50 mg. doses 2-hourly, orally, as soon as the patient was conscious and until nausea and vomiting ceased, either alone or subsequent to a pre-operative treatment of 50 mg. of nicotinic acid 2-hourly for 2 days. There was, however, a trend toward reduced incidence of vomiting.
