Abstract
The excitation energies of d band holes in noble metals and their dilute alloys are calculated accurately using methods that provide a clear insight into the electron liquid response to the d hole. Quantitative descriptions of the d-hole-phonon interaction and the hole-hole interaction are also given. Keywords
