Abstract
Properties of event horizons are examined for static, axially symmetric, vacuum space-times. Israel has shown that under fairly general conditions such horizons are singular. One would expect that a positive-mass point particle would correspond to a pointlike singular horizon. It is shown, however, that the horizons cannot be pointlike. The geometry of particular horizons is discussed. Keywords
