Abstract
Energy-loss spectra and different elastic and inelastic scattering functions for 540 eV single electron capture collisions of Ar2+ and 1250 eV Ar3+ ions with helium are reported and interpreted in terms of the avoided crossings of potential energy curves. Calculations are made of the proportions of long-lived excited states of these ions present in the beam, which is produced in an oscillating electron ion source. Keywords
