Abstract
This article reports the attempt to refine the term and definition of learning disabilities. The new term is dyssymbolia. Four criteria for making placement decisions are presented and discussed. Finally, the results of five studies which have contributed to the refinement of the definition of the terms are given in prècis.Keywords
