Abstract
The natural fluorescence from Propionibacterium acnes has been investigated in vivo. The fluorescence spectrum can be decomposed into three distinct emission spectra due to the presence of metal-free coproporphyrin, protoporphyrin and uroporphyrin in the bacteria. The amounts of these substances can be estimated from the in vivo fluorescence measurements, which may serve as a nondestructive technique to study the porphyrin metabolism. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
