RADIOLUCENT INTRACAVITARY RADIATION APPLICATORS

Abstract
Recent developments in computer techniques make available accurate and clinically useful calculations of dosage distribution about interstitial and intracavitary implants. Metallic applicators interfere with the precise localization of the radiation sources required for the utilization of these techniques. The use of radiolucent plastic applicators permits clear, precise visualization and localization of the individual sources. These applicators combine with modern computer technology to provide detailed and accurate three dimensional dosimetry for complex implantations.
