Tolmetin-Induced Anaphylactoid Reactions

Abstract
To the Editor: During a routine screening in late 1980 of data on adverse reactions received through the Food and Drug Administration's Spontaneous Reporting System, we observed what appeared to be an excessive number of reports in which tolmetin sodium (Tolectin) was associated with the occurrence of anaphylactoid-type reactions. The most commonly reported constellation of events was respiratory distress accompanied by circulatory collapse and some cutaneous form of hypersensitivity (usually angioedema or pruritus or both).
