Abstract
The potential-field problem in surface discharges is generally discussed in terms of equivalent circuits. Analysis of discharges under inception conditions is done using a simple equivalent circuit. The effect of generalised circuits is examined, and in addition to the potential-field problem is solved numerically on the basis on Fourier expansion. The numerical field solution appears to be considerably different from the equivalent circuit one, and to modify the results of the data analysis. Keywords
