Abstract
Situs in-versus with levocardia is a rare malformation that consists in reversal of the positions of the abdominal viscera to form a mirror image of the normal, and certain anatomic defects of a normally placed heart. Commonly, a combination of reversal of the atria and transposition of the great vessels results in normal circulation. However, almost any combination of abnormalities of the systemic and pulmonary venous return and the septa of the heart may occur. In the patient described, the cardiac malformations consisted of total anomalous pulmonary venous return, common atrium, persistent left superior vena cava, and inferior vena cava that emptied into the left side of the heart. Correction of the functional derangement was accomplished by creation of an atrial septum of teflon in such a way that systemic venous blood drained into the right ventricle and pulmonary venous blood into the left ventricle. Catheteriza-tion performed one year after operation confirmed complete correction of the abnormalities. Keywords
