Abstract
An analytic expression is obtained for resonant photon scattering by a molecular electronic continuum. Using the model of linear potentials, it is shown that all relevant cross‐sections reduce to the linear potential Green's function. Rayleigh and Raman scattering are examined as a function of incident photon energy and also as a function of vibrational excitation. Keywords
