ROSAT observations of 3CR radio galaxies

Abstract
We report ROSAT PSPC observations of five powerful radio galaxies from the 3CR catalogue (3C 227, 277.2, 287.1, 332 and 368). All of the objects are detected. Three are low-redshift, broad-line radio galaxies for which we find power-law spectra; in one of these there is also a possible extended thermal component, and in another there is absorption, possibly with a warm absorber. The remaining two are distant radio galaxies where we suggest that the emission is thermal diffuse cluster emission.Keywords
