Abstract
The class of title pyrroles, important intermediates in porphyrin synthesis, have been prepared via the Barton and Zard method. The benzyl isocyanoacetate used in the synthesis was in turn prepared in an efficient and inexpensive 3-step piocedure from glycine.Keywords
