Abstract
A selected review of literature is given that would indicate a relation between injury to plants produced by insect feeding and that induced by plant regulating substances or hormones. Hormones and insect injury in some instances are parallel in causing virus-like symptoms, necrosis, galls, and witches'' broom effects. A close relation is also evident in enzymatic activity where it is involved and the inhibition of abscission caused by Lygus bug feeding. DDT may also cause a hormone-like effect upon plants. Keywords
