Abstract
Based on the theoretical study of hydrofluoric acid etching, the maximum strength of 2.6% elongation was achieved at the spliced point of the fibre. A new reinforcement method has been also developed, which provides a long-length fibre for cabling. The optical fibre containing these splices was cabled without degradation in optical transmission loss. Keywords
