Abstract
In this work, the performance of trellis coded modulations with improved non‐coherent receivers is examined for application to personal and mobile satellite communications. The schemes are analysed and evaluated in additive white Gaussian noise, Rayleigh, Rician and shadowed faded channels. Evaluations have shown that the improved non‐coherent receivers are capable of providing considerable gains in performance as compared to the conventional differential receivers. Keywords
