Abstract
The critical current for the growth of ion acoustic waves in the presence of collisions is calculated by using a kinetic investigation with a collision integral of the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook type. It is shown that electron-ion collisions facilitate the ion acoustic oscillations. Keywords
