Abstract
On October 18–20, 1982, APCA’s TP-5 Receptor/Souree Apportionment Committee sponsored a Specialty Meeting on “Receptor Models Applied to Contemporary Pollution Problems,” hosted by the Northeast Atlantic International Section. This highly successful meeting marks the 10th anniversary of the paper by Miller, Friedlander, and Hidy1 which first formally proposed the mass balance model that has led to these further developments. This meeting demonstrates the advancements that have been made during the past decade in the ability to utilize air quality data at a receptor site to quantitatively infer the types and amounts of sources of pollution impacting that site. It was the purpose of this meeting to both review the current state of this rapidly developing field as well as look to the future for new or expanded applications and new developments. Keywords
