Abstract
A state‐of‐the‐art review of recent developments in the area of numerical structural optimization over a period of approximately five years, 1980–1984, is presented. Recent reviews, techniques and civil engineering design applications are covered, as well as problems with stability, frequency and shape constraints; a diverse list of papers, books and computer programs is cited. Keywords
