Electric-Field-Induced Commensurate Phase in Deuterated Thiourea

Abstract
With use of elastic neutron scattering, the creation of a new commensurate phase with modulation wave vector δ=18 by the application of an external electric field along the ferroelectric axis in deuterated thiourea is demonstrated. The temperature range over which this induced phase exists (2.5 K at E=4000 V/cm) increases with increasing E.
