Abstract
A preliminary study of ten soils selected from the commercial potato-growing area showed that scabbiness was generally associated with high pH levels and with wide Ca:K ratios. In a greenhouse study, the effect of Ca:K ratio was studied independently of pH by using calcium hydroxide and calcium sulphate as sources of calcium. Scabbiness was directly related to soil pH but was not related to Ca:K ratio. Keywords
