Abstract
A small amt. of bound ascorbic acid was found in human milk, but none in cow''s milk; by hydrolysis of the sulfosalicylic acid precipitate with HCl, considerable amts. were found in the liver, kidneys, heart and skeletal muscle of pigs, rabbits, and guinea pigs, and a small amt. in potatoes, less in cauliflower, rutabagas, and carrots. Hydrolysis of animal and plant tissues with HCl soln. at 100[degree] under CO2 led to conflicting results. By this method a much smaller amt. of bound ascorbic acid than usually reported was found in animal tissues and none in plant tissues. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
