Abstract
Adjusting to an amputation is even more difficult for adolescents since they are in a period of transition with overwhelming developmental challenges. Nurses can have the greatest impact when they understand the period of adolescence as well as the four-phase process of adjustment to limb amputation: impact, retreat, acknowledgment, and reconstruction. Keywords
