Abstract
This paper discusses recently developed shutter image converter tubes. Part I is concerned with electrostatically focused tubes while part II considers magnetically focused tubes. Both types employ a mesh spaced close to the cathode which can be used to control the passage of photoelectrons from cathode to phosphor layer (anode). The electron-optical theory is presented for both types of tubes and their static characteristics are discussed. Keywords
