Abstract
The curvature of and stress in rectangular and circular thin mica windows in a vacuum tube are analysed and it is shown that a circular window has advantages. A method of pressing an electron-sensitive Melinex-based emulsion against a circular window is described and the results of tests on actual windows are reported. Details are given of the method used for making a vacuum-tight seal between mica and chrome-iron.Keywords
