Abstract
The local symmetry transformations of the N-extended superparticle are obtained by using the generalised Hamiltonian dynamics of Dirac (1950, 64). The formulation is extended off the hypersurface in phase space defined by the constraints and vector field notation is used to allow the equations of motion to be considered. The Lagrangian is not invariant under the standard transformations alone. Invariance is obtained by deriving new transformations proportional to the equations of motion and demanding conditions on the transformation parameters. The extra local bosonic transformations discovered by Siegel (1986) are shown to be connected with the spinor constraints and are required for reparametrisation invariance. Keywords
