Focal Neurological Manifestations in Hypercalcemia

Abstract
An uncommon neurological manifestation of secondary hypercalcemia is described in a patient suffering from inoperable carcinoma of the breast. Jacksonian epileptic attacks and transient hemiparesis accompanied by EEG abnormalities and high serum calcium level were observed. The patient’s condition improved gradually and the EEG returned to normal after serum calcium correction. The possible mechanism of focal neurological pathology in our case is discussed.
