Abstract
Experimental data show that the strength of compressed air as an insulator increases with pressure until a critical value is exceeded. At higher pressures the sparking voltage fails to rise, and may even drop. The maximum voltage and the critical pressure are largely dependent on the shape of the electrodes of the spark gap.Keywords
