Abstract
Prep. of the pituitary material was described. Albino [male] mice were used in the assay. Large doses of gonadotropic hormone were negative in mammary growth stimulation, as was [male] sex hormone. The influence of varying dosages of estrogen and prehypophyseal tissue from pregnant cattle, and of length of inj. period was studied. A 6 day period was satisfactory. The proposed mouse assay unit for mammogenic duct growth factor is the total amt. of tissue or extract required to produce definite signs of development in one or more glands of 50 [plus or minus] 10% of 10 mice weighing 10-25 g. Inj. should be made once daily, subcut., for 6 successive days, and the animal killed on the 7th.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
