Abstract
Shoot formation in cotyledon explants of mustard (Brassica juncea var. Rai-5) was observed on Murashige and Skoog's medium supplemented with NAA* (1 mg l–1) and BA (1 mg l–1). Hypocotyl segments failed to differentiate shoots. Complete plants were obtained when shoots were rooted in MS medium with NAA (1 mg l–1). EMS, a chemical mutagen, had an inhibitory effect on shoot regeneration. Gamma rays in doses above 2 kR suppressed shoot regeneration but stimulated callus growth. Keywords
