The reactivity of organophosphorus compounds. Part XXIV. Acidic hydrolysis of dialkyl methylphosphonates

Abstract
Rates of acidic hydrolysis of dialkyl methylphosphonates [(RO)2P(O)Me and (RO)(EtO)P(O)Me, where R is primary, secondary (mainly), and tertiary] at 100° in 50% aqueous dioxan, containing benzenesulphonic acid (1 N), have been measured and the relative rates of hydrolysis are compared with the previously reported relative rates of ageing of phosphonylated cholinesterases.
