Abstract
The Ocean Sciences Committee has presented Gideon Henderson and Alexander Krupitsky with Outstanding Student Paper Awards for presentations given at the Spring Meeting in Montreal, Canada, held in May. Henderson's paper was titled, “Ratios in Corals from the Last Interglacial Period on the Japanese Atol of Hateruma: Implications for Open System Behavior of Corals.” Henderson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in geology from Oxford University, England. He is currently a doctoral student at Cambridge University, England. His research focuses on marine isotope geochemistry, in particular, the study of uranium isotope ratios in seawater and variations in the seawater strontium isotope ratio through the Quaternary and their relationship to Milankovitch forcing.
