Abstract
Daily doses of DCA totalling 3 gs. were administered to an ovariectomized chimpanzee for 15 days and a total of 14.9 liters of urine collected during dosage period. Hydrolysis and extraction with HC1 and CCl4 yielded material dissolved in the tetrachloride which was separated into 2 fractions by means of NaOH. The fraction containing neutral compounds was separated into 4 fractions by means of the Girard-Sandulesco ketone reagent. The nonketonic hydroxy fraction, separated further yielded soluble digito-nides from which 79 mg. of pregnandiol-3(a),20(a) was recovered by adsorption on a column of Brockmann''s aluminum oxide from a soln. of benzene. In another expt. 2% conversion of DCA occurred. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
