Abstract
This research was undertaken with the following aims in view:—(1) The investigation of the growth phenomena of fœtal and adult lungin vitro; (2) The study of the phagocytic reaction (if any) of such cultures towards sterile carmine and coal particles. As far as I know, these are the first observations as yet made on tissue cultures of lung. The material assistance I owe to the Medical Research Council, and I am glad to have this opportunity of expressing my gratitude. Keywords
