Abstract
Measurements of the absorption bands of SnF are reported for the first time. Analysis of the frequencies of the band heads shows the presence of four doublet systems, all due to transitions from a doublet normal state , of separation 2317.3 . The various states are as follows: The transitions and give continua. The second component of is probably masked by . Resolution of the Sn isotope effect is observed for the first time. A carbon tube furnace for studying absorption spectra is described.
