Abstract
An attempt has been made to isolate the component mechanisms involved in the proliferative response of the rat liver after partial hepatectomy. The exclusion of portal haemodynamic factors was effected by portacaval anastomosis and the influence of major endocrine gland activity by hypophysectomy. Rats in which both these surgical procedures had been performed showed evidence of a hepatic restorative response after partial hepatectomy. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
