Abstract
Early in 1947 the beet army worm, Laphygma exigua, appeared in flax fields of Yuma Co., Ariz., destroying the blooms and small bolls in numbers great enough to destroy the valuable crop. The by-products of flax being short, control was essential. Applications of a 5% DDT and an inert carrier applied at 20 lb. per acre gave excellent control.
