Abstract
A pilot program for nurses given by the Child Study Association of America for the New York State Department of Health and The U. S. Children''s Bureau is reported against the background of the philosophy and goals of group education for expectant parents. The paper describes the experience of 3 groups of nurses in developing a new approach to the teaching of antepartum classes through use of discussion techniques and indicates the ways in which the nurses acquired such skills to help parents meet the physical and emotional concerns of pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the post-partum period.
