Abstract
The reaction of Cl+(3P,1D) with D2 was studied in the energy range 1–100 eV. The energy and angular distribution of the DCl+ ions were measured. The limiting values of the translational exoergicity indicate that in both reactions the ionic product was in the 2Π State. The reactions were found to proceed by direct mechanisms. The energy transfer processes involving inelastic and superelastic collisions of Cl+(3P) and Cl+(1D) with D2 and Ar were used to demonstrate the presence of 3P and 1D states in the Cl+ ion beam. Keywords
