Abstract
A series of ring-substituted N,N-diethylbenzamide analogs of deet was prepared for examination of mosquito repellent potency in relation to chemical structure and physical properties. A general relationship of repellent potency to volatility was demonstrated. No correlation between repellency and physical properties, such as relative partition coefficient and polarizability, was demonstrable. Some compounds exhibited repellent potencies and durations of effectiveness comparable to those of deet. Repellent potency did not parallel duration of effectiveness. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
