Abstract
A two-dimensional field-theoretic model is considered in which chiral symmetry is dynamically broken in a nonperturbative manner. The response to an externally applied vector field is studied and a phase transition which restores the chiral symmetry is discovered. The critical field is explicitly calculated to all orders in the coupling constant and for any magnitude of the constant external field strength. Keywords
