Abstract
Liberations of insect enemies of Dacus dorsalis were initiated in 1947 By the end of 1950, thirteen parasites and a predator had been released. Opius longicaudatus O incisi, O. oophilus and Opius sp. had been established. These parasites made remarkable progress throughout the Territory and by late 1950 host larvae on the islands of Qahu, Hawaii, and Maul were heavily parasitized. Parasitization was especially high on Oahu where a peak avg. of 82.9% was reached in infested guava fruits during Dec. Most of this parasitization was produced by the egg-larval parasite O oophilus. which became very abundant during the summer of 1950 Infestation trends in guava fruits indicate that the parasites have markedly reduced the abundance of D dorsalis. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
