Abstract
The effect of a structured, interdisciplinary group counseling program was studied in 30 newly diagnosed adult patients with advanced cancer. These were compared to 30 patients who did not undergo group counseling. Group counseling resulted in a significant improvement in patient perception and self-concept. This structured educational and psychological support program provided a mutual support experience for newly diagnosed patients with advanced cancer.
