Surgery for Aneurysms of the Heart After Myocardial Infarction

Abstract
In spite of the fact of the frequent occurrence of aneurysms of the heart, not enough attention is paid to that question in medical literature. Myocardial infarction is the most frequent reason for aneurysm of the heart. The aneurysms may take place after closed trauma, heart wound, or infectious myocardial lesion. Like aneurysms of the vessels, heart aneurysms may be true or false. The false ones may be traumatic. Unlike vascular pathology, cardiac aneurysms in many cases have the true character and usually develop after the myocardial infarction. In this article I wish to establish my experience with the surgical correction of the post-infarction aneurysms of the heart. This problem has great importance because of the frequency of this kind of pathology, the severity of the complications, and the high rate of mortality.
