Local trap centres in PbWO4crystals

Abstract
This paper reports on PbWO4 trapping centres analysis by the thermally activated luminescence (TSL) method as an attempt to explain the nature of luminescence and quenching processes in PbWO4 crystals. At least four trapping centres were identified with energy values of E1 = 0.183 eV; E2 = 0.297 eV; E3 = 0.518 eV, E4 = 0.525 eV and activation temperatures of T1 = -154°C; T2 = -107°C; T3 = -54°C; T4 = +8°C respectively. The excitation and emission spectra of thermoluminescence are given. The possible nature of the trapping centres is discussed.Keywords
