Site of Prolactin in the Pituitary Gland, as Studied by Immunofluorescence1

Abstract
Fluorescein-conjugated antibodies to ovine prolactin localized in many acidophils of bovine pituitary glands. Aldehyde thionineperiodic acid-Schiff orange-G staining showed 2 types of acidophils; only one of these showed specific fluorescence with antiprolactin gamma globulin. The other type of acidophil showed fluorescence only with conjugated antisera to growth hormone. (Endocrinology83: 731, 1968)
