Abstract
In this study, the axial species density profiles of sodium, scandium and thorium in 175-watt metal halide lamps that incorporate the iodides of sodium and scandium in the arc tube fill are determined. The effect of some additional lamp additives are noted. Both sodium and scandium species are found to be segregated, with the lowest sodium and scandium pressures and lowest sodium-to-scandium ratio found at the top of the arc column. Keywords
